Tyler Shaw Releases Warm Cover of ‘Maybe This Christmas’

Multi hyphenate Tyler Shaw is bringing Christmas cheer with a cover of the Christmas classic “Maybe This Christmas”- originally by fellow Canadian Ron Sexsmith – via Sony Music.

The cover highlights Shaw’s warm vocals making for a cozy, nostalgic rendition of the song. Produced by Shaw himself, the rich harmonies and festive production instantly invoke all the feelings of the season.

In a year where people have remained apart, “Maybe This Christmas” reminds listeners to reconnect and care for loved ones. The lyrics build on that sentiment, “Maybe this Christmas will mean something more. Maybe this year love will appear deeper than ever before. And maybe forgiveness will ask us to call someone we love, someone we’ve lost for reasons we can’t quite recall…”

At the start of lockdown this year, Shaw (along with Fefe Dobson) spearheaded ArtistsCAN, a collective artist initiative raising funds for COVID-19 relief in Canada. They gathered singers and musicians from across Canada featuring Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé, Sarah McLachlan, Avril Lavigne, Donovan Woods, Walk Off The Earth, and more, to cover “Lean on Me with all proceeds from the single going directly to the Canadian Red Cross. Other notable names involved include Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Chris Boucher, Shay Mitchell, Trailer Park Boys, and more. The performance was featured on the history-making national TV special Stronger Together: Tous Ensemble -the most-watched non-sports Canadian broadcast on record with audiences reaching 11.5M viewers. “Lean On Me” (ArtistsCAN) now has over 10M combined streams globally.
