- The Star Wars Celebration 2020 and Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite have been canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ReedPOP and Lucasfilm have announced that this year’s Star Wars Celebration that would have taken place on August 27-30 at the Anaheim Convention Center has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The bi-annual convention will continue in 2022.
“At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020,” said the announcement on their website. “While this news is disappointing, we are happy to announce that Star Wars Celebration will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 18-21, 2022.”
Organizers are offering refunds, merchandise credit, or the ability to transfer tickets to the next event. Refunds will be available to request from June 22 through August 26. Attendees who booked a hotel through the convention portal will have their reservations automatically canceled. For those who decide to transfer their ticket to the 2022 event will receive a free exclusive Star Wars Celebration stormtrooper character pin.
Disneyland’s event Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, which was set to take place on August 27, has also been postponed to a later date. No new date has been announced but guests who bought tickets can hold on to their ticket than can be applied to the new date.
