After a leak and several delays, Sony‘s Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer broke first-day records, taking the crown from Marvel Studios‘ Avengers: Endgame. The Spider-Man trailer racked up355.5 million global views in its first 24 hours while Avengers: Endgame drove 289M views.
The anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home built as rumors about the multiverse began to make the rounds on social media. With the return of Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe reprising their roles as Doc Ock and Norman Osborn, respectively, from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Jamie Foxx returning as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man, the new installment is set to open up a new storyline for the webbed slinger.
The trailer picks up after Spider-Man: Far From Home with Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) identity blown by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and dealing with the repercussions.Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange tries to cast a spell to reverse what happened but creates a ripple opening different multiverses.
Spider-Man: No Way Home opens exclusively in movie theaters on December 17.
