- Sony has reportedly hired S.J. Clarkson to direct a secret Marvel movie.
A female-centric Marvel movie is reportedly in the works at Sony Pictures. The studio has signed on veteran TV director S.J. Clarkson for the movie.
The character the movie will be based on has not been confirmed but there is a possibility of it being based on Madame Web comic-book.
Sony has not confirmed or commented regarding the movie as of now. Besides Clarkson, there is no writer or star joining the project yet.
In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life support system that looks like a spider web. Due to her age, she never fought any villains, which sources tell Variety that the project could turn into something else for this reason.
Clarkson has directed episodes for TV shows including Banshee, Bates Motel, Succession, and Marvel’s Jessica Jones. She was also close to being the first female director for Star Trek but the project got shelved.
Clarkson is repped by WME and the Curtis Brown Group.
Variety first reported the news.
