- Michael Bay's new project 'Songbird' is underway. The film is a pandemic themed thriller.
Michael Bay has teamed up with former Paramount production chief Adam Goodman to produce a pandemic-themed thriller that will be the first major film to shoot in Los Angeles during the lockdown, as reported exclusively by Deadline. In the nature and color of Paranormal Activity, Songbird is a thriller about government conspiracy and paranoia of a virus that continues to mutate. The picture is set two years in the future and shows the impact of a still present pandemic on characters in lockdown.
Songbird is a low budget film whose plans to shoot safely during the current COVID-19 pandemic have been greenlit by the guilds. The plan focuses on social distancing rules, guidelines on preparing shots before filming, avoiding people in a room together, and actors engaging face to face. Casting is still underway and remote training will be provided for actors, as well as stunt rehearsals via Zoom.
Director Adam Mason confirmed to begin production within five weeks. The film will be sold at the upcoming Virtual Cannes Market by ICM Partners and Endeavor Content using a proof-of-concept sizzle reel.
