- Bong Joon Ho's sci-fi thriller 'Snowpiercer' will be available to stream on Netflix.
Based on the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and 2013 film series of the same name by Oscar-winner Bong Joon Ho of Parasite, Snowpiercer is an apocalyptic sci-fi thriller set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. The sci-fi thriller centers around a perpetually moving 1001-carriage luxurious train circling the globe, whose inhabitants are the remnants of humanity. Class warfare, social injustice, and politics survive on the train, which incites a violent uprising by the poorest residents living in the squalid parts of the train. The thriller already premiered on TNT in the US and China, and will be released on Netflix on Monday, May 25 – with new episodes to release on a weekly basis.
Daveed Diggs, Hamilton star and Grammy and Tony Award-winning actor, joined the cast of Snowpiercer as Andre Layton, a detective in his past life and now part of the least privileged aboard the train. Layton becomes the leader to end the train’s rigid class system. Diggs exclusively told Fox News that the series feels ever-so relevant in today’s unprecedented times ordering for a quarantine due to the novel coronavirus.
Netflix has already confirmed a second series.
