Ready Player One released in 2011 and became a New York Times bestseller spending more than 100 weeks and reached No. 1. The book led to the movie adaptation from Steven Spielberg. The 2018 film from Warner Bros. grossed $582.8 million globally, which was one of Spielberg’s highest grossing movies since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The first book got a boost in popularity with the resurgence of 1980s pop culture along with other projects including Netflix’s Stranger Things and Warner Bros.’ It adaptation.
