New York Times bestselling author Ernest Cline is ready to jump back into the virtual universe of OASIS for Ready Player Two set to release Tuesday, November 24 in the U.S. and the UK. Ahead of the launch of the action-packed adventure sequel, the author and Roblox have teamed up to call on players to jump on the hub for an epic virtual treasure hunt that spans over seven portals and quests. Hosted on the platform, Ready Player Two Hub will award virtual goods to thousands of winners.
Players will also be able to jump on the hub for a virtual Q&A with Cline and Roblox founder and CEO Dave Baszucki on December 1 at 10 AM PST. The event follows Warner Bros. and Roblox’s previous collaboration around the release of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster adaptation of Cline’s novel Ready Player One in 2018.
“The event we did on Roblox in 2018 for the Ready Player One movie had over 13 million people participate,” Baszucki said. “I think it’s fair to say this is going to be even bigger.”
Cline added, “Roblox is the closest thing to the Oasis in real life, and this contest is the closest thing to the treasure hunt in my book.”
