- Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are teaming up for Universal's wedding comedy 'Worst Man.'
Saturday Night Live stars Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are stepping out of the show and working together on a wedding comedy Worst Man for Universal Pictures. Jost, Matthew Bass, and Theodore Bressman pitched the idea from an original idea.
The movie will center around a soon-to-be-married couple and the family dramatics that ensue just weeks before the wedding.
Erik Baiers, Universal’s senior executive vice president of production, will oversee the production on behalf of the studio, and Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels will produce. The movie is still in development without a director attached yet.
Worst Man will be Davidsons and Jost’s major project together outside SNL.
Jost has been the co-head writer for SNL for the past few years and will release the memoir A Very Punchable Face on July 14. He will also appear in Warner Bros.’ live-action and animated hybrid Tom & Jerry.
Davidson is coming off from his new film The King of Staten Island directed by Judd Apatow. He also starred in Hulu’s coming-of-age comedy Big Time Adolescence and will appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Bressman co-wrote Jungleland which premiere at TIFF and was acquired by Lionsgate. Bass was a staff writer for Hulu’s Future Man.
