Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK have released a new single “Broken Heart of Gold” along with an official lyric video. “Broken Heart of Gold” was written exclusively for the film Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning and will feature as the official theme song for the final installment of the widely popular film series which is set to arrive on June 4. “Broken Heart of Gold” is available here.
Unlike ONE OK ROCK’s recent single “Renegades,” which they co-wrote with international superstar Ed Sheeran, “Broken Heart of Gold” is an emotional piano-driven ballad which the band created in England with Dan Lancaster, a longtime collaborator responsible for producing the band’s other mega-hits including “Taking Off” and “Eye of the Storm.”
ONE OK ROCK have also announced a global open call for music video submissions for “Broken Heart of Gold.” Entrants of all levels of experience across the world are welcome to submit their work in any video style with the winning entrant receiving a cash prize (500,000 Yen) with their video getting posted on ONE OK ROCK’s YouTube channel as the official “Broken Heart of Gold” music video for the entire world to watch. Fans can find more details on the open call and submit their entries here.
Furthermore, the band also announced that in July, they will perform an acoustic live concert which will also be streamed worldwide to fans around the globe. The upcoming performance, which they have deemed the “Day to Night Acoustic Sessions,” will be held at Kawaguchiko Stellar Theater and streamed worldwide on July 31 at 6 a.m. ET / 7 p.m. JST.
