- Olivia Wilde has signed on to direct a female-centric Marvel film for Sony.
Rumors about Sony developing a Spider-Woman character began swirling in the recent months. While it hasn’t been confirmed what the film will be, Wilde dropped a hint on her Twitter using only a spider emoji.
Sony is currently producing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films alongside Marvel Studios. The studio also produces the Venom films, along with the upcoming Morbius, which fall in the Spider-Man universe.
The untitled film will be written by Katie Silberman (Booksmart) with Amy Pascal producing. Rachel O’Connor will executive produce.
Wilde made her feature film directorial debut last year with Booksmart, which received high acclaim. She will also be directing the thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh.
