With Taylor Swift announcing the drop of her re-recorded Red album and Lorde announcing her first album in a few years, 2021 is shaping up to be a big year for music. As the summer continues forward, the releases keep coming. Here is this week’s New Music Friday.
347aidan – Trouble
347aidan has released the music video for the track “Trouble.” Written by the artist, follows Aidan’s carefree travels around the tropics. He also recently released “Memories” which features flashback highlights of the artist’s life over recent years.
Franki – Talk Again
Franki released the new track “Talk Again.” About the track, he shares, “Talk Again encapsulates a lot of what the E.P is about for me which is uncertainty in love. How easy it can be to get lost in the midst of your emotions and to go back on your decisions despite having no clear outlook on what you want. The entire E.P for me is a collection of emotions that accompany you through the journey of falling in and out of love and how draining and repetitive the process can be. I think Talk Again signifies one of the hardest parts of that journey for me, the place of complete indecision and overwhelming doubt.”
Kat & Alex – Gira de Desamor
Country-Latin duo Kat & Alex have shared “Gira de Desamor” the Spanish version of their latest track “Heartbreak Tour.” “Since we first began Kat & Alex, it’s been extremely important for us to include our Latin heritage in our music,” says Kat & Alex. “‘Heartbreak Tour’ was the first song we released written solely by the two of us, so it only made sense to take those lyrics and translate the song fully into Spanish. ‘Gira De Desamor’takes our personal story of ‘Heartbreak Tour’ and opens the song up to a whole new audience.”
MAX & Ali Gatie – Butterflies
MAX has teamed up with Ali Gatie for the new single “Butterflies.” The song serves as a sequel to his 2016 breakout hit “Lights Down Low” which was written by MAX to propose to his wife Emily. “Butterflies” comes 5 years later they have their little baby girl together to renew their vows.
Molly Payton – Honey
Molly Payton has released the reflective new single “Honey” “Honey is about that moment in a relationship where things stop working as well as they used to. This song was me taking responsibility for my part in the decay of it all, acknowledging that I’d been distant and that I’d keep trying to make things work. I think there’s also an undercurrent of frustration with myself for letting my past interfere with my present. Like most songs I write it was mostly just me working through my own mind and emotions, but I guess the message of this song would be to make sure you’re not giving too much of yourself away. Take time to make sure you’re ok so that you can support the people you love,” she says.
TOBi & Baby Rose – Come As You Are
TOBI and Baby Rose have released the joint track “Come As You Are.” TOBI shares, “I’ve been waiting to do this song for years. I had the concept written but never brought it to life until the pandemic hit and I found it again. What does it mean to love someone as they are and not as a projection of who they portray to the world? Not the layers and titles that we have given to each other. To recognize the humanity in each other as a mirror of self. It’s a lesson in self-love as well. We know we are both here right now but we have the potential to be greater versions of ourselves and I want to be there for your blossoming, as you’ll be there for me. Sometimes we forget how the simplest things are often the most overlooked but the most important parts of who we are. Baby Rose delivered the perfect verse and was exactly how I envisioned what that night looked like.”
