Netflix Orders Animated Series ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ from Michael Green and Amber Noizumi

  • The animated story of a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise while seeking revenge in Edo-period Japan is coming to Netflix.

Netflix has greenlit the animated series Blue Eye Samurai created by American writer and producer Michael Green with Amber Noizumi. The project is the first of many to come from Green for the streamer after signing an overall television and film deal.

“Our story is a larger-than-life action-adventure that takes place 400 years ago, yet ‘Blue Eye Samurai’s’ themes are of the moment and the inspiration is deeply personal,” said Green and Noizumi. “We are grateful for Netflix’s passion for this story and for their bold vision for sophisticated animated drama.”

The cast of the new series features the voices of Maya Erskine, George Takei, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, and Darren Barnet.
