Netflix is Looking to Pick Up Rights for Aaron Sorkin's 'The Trial of the Chicago 7'

Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 from Cross Creek Pictures may be heading to Netflix. The streamer is negotiating a deal to acquire global rights.

The film centers around the story of 7 people on trial stemming from various charges surrounding the uprising at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Cross Creek financed and produced the film.

The cast includes Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Strong, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Frank Langella, Michael Keaton, and Mark Rylance.

Sorkin received an Oscar for his screenplay for The Social Network and is known for creating The West Wing. He also wrote the highly acclaimed Molly’s Game and Moneyball scripts.
