Netflix has confirmed the production of Érase una vez… Pero ya no, the streamer’s first musical series in Spain with classic Spanish pop and Latino songs. Manolo Caro (Alguien tiene que morir, La casa de las flores) created the series and will direct the reinvention of classic fairytales. Lucas Vidal joins as a music producer.
Produced by Rafael Ley, María José Córdova, Carlos Taibo, and Caro, Erase una vez…Pero ya no tells the story of two lovers who were tragically separated and must find each other in a different life to break the curse that fell on their town. But the arrival of two tourists put their chances at risk.
Caro affirmed in a press release that the show will be a reinvention like an anti fairytale and will use comedy and music to tell a new story.
The show will feature singer and Colombian composer Sebastián Yatra and Spanish singers Mònica Maranillo (La Voz Kids) and Nia Correia (Operación Triunfo 2020).
The show will also feature Rossy de Palma (Los abrazos rotos, Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios), Asier Etxeandia (Sky Rojo, Dolor y gloria), Mariola Fuentes (Alguien tiene que morir, Los abrazos rotos), Itziar Castro (Vis a Vis, Pieles), Daniela Vega (Una mujer fantástica, La visita) and Mariana Treviño (Club de Cuervos, La casa de las flores), among others.
