Netflix Announces ‘A Blueprint for Love ‘ New Japanese Film Starring Tomohisa Yamashita

Netflix will produce and release the new film A Blueprint for Love. The film is a remake of the Korean film, Architecture 101, which became the highest-grossing romance movie in Korea by drawing more than 4 million viewers. Tomohisa Yamashita is set to star in the film. This will be the first time for him to appear in an original film for Netflix. The remake has a Japanese and Korean cast and the story takes place in Japan.

In A Blueprint for Love, Ibuki, an 18-year-old aspiring architect, attends art university where he meets the beautiful and charming Yuna. While learning about Japanese fine architecture, they fall in love with each other. Before they break each other’s hearts, Ibuki had promised Yuna to build her a home one day. 19 years later, Yuna suddenly reappears in front of Ibuki. She is going through a divorce and is taking care of her ill father-in-law. She asks Ibuki to build her a house in Nishiizu because it is known for its beautiful sunsets and view over Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps. During the process, they slowly rekindle their feelings for each other.

Yamashita spoke enthusiastically about this new challenge, saying, “I feel a great amount of pressure knowing that this is going to be a remake of a hit Korean romance movie, but at the same time, I am also very pleased to be able to take part in it. Much like how an architect plans a house, I hope that I am able to respectfully and carefully understand the story and put all my feelings into this movie. I hope that we can show respect to the original movie while also working hard to express a new take on love with this team.”
