- 'Mulan' will premiere on Disney+ on September 4 for 29.99.
Disney’s biggest movie this year Mulan has been pushed back multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced during today’s Disney Q3 2020 Earnings Call that the movie will premiere on Disney+ on September 4 at a premiere price of 29.99, as the movie will still premiere in theaters at a later date.
The news comes after Mulan was pulled from the release schedule as the state of movie theaters remains in the balance. While many speculated whether or not Disney would take this route, it’s a compromise for the company. Offering it through a premium on-demand price could mean it will still get a big box office push in theaters.
Chapek said later in the call that Mulan will be a one-off option and not something the company will continue to do at the moment. Marvel’s Black Widow is still set to release in theaters later this year.
