Two years after the release of the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame and after a rough 2020 which required many of its movies to be delayed, Marvel Studios is looking forward to its Phase Four by sharing a taste of what’s to come.
Marvel shared a highlight reel for its Phase Four movie slate which includes a look at the Eternals, glimpses of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and shared the official titles for the Black Panther and Captain Marvel sequels.
“We go to escape, to get lost in a story, to feel connected, to share moments we will remember forever,” it says in the trailer. The message comes after an especially trying period for the movie theater business, one that’s left cinemas struggling to survive after prolonged closures and a dearth of new releases.
With the preview, the studio confirmed the release dates for its slate of films. Black Widow is still on track to premiere on July 9 after being delayed for more than a year and will release in both theaters and on Disney+. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release on September 3.
The highly anticipated Black Panther sequel titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will it theaters on July 8, 2022. The film will be the first after the passing of Chadwick Boseman who dies last August after a four-year battle with colon cancer at the age of 43. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously announced that his role of T’Challa will not be recast.
The Captain marvel Sequel will be titled The Marvels and will premiere on November 11, 2022. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also received new release dates. Ant-Man will return on February 17, 2023, and Guardians of the Galaxy on May 5, 2023.
