Marie Naffah has released a live acoustic cover video of Louis Armstrong’s hit single “What A Wonderful World.” Filmed in a tipi, Naffah strips the song right back with just guitar and showcases her stunning vocals at the forefront of the performance.
“I chose to cover this song with a bit of a sad twinge, considering there is a lot of non-wonderful stuff going on right now. The line referring to ‘friends shaking hands’ seems like a kind of distant luxury at the moment,” said Naffah.
The soul singer released her latest single “The Cage” last month, which is the first taste of her forthcoming EP due out later this year.
“The Cage” laces guzheng strings throughout a delicate funk backing with an inescapable groove, while Marie’s captivating lyricism addresses the need to break free with a stunning soulful vocal.
Marie’s upcoming EP has been recorded with Neil Comber (Florence + The Machine, Glass Animals, Charlie XCX), Matt Colton (Arctic Monkeys, Christine and the Queens) and Simon Byrt (Pixx, Charlotte OC, Babeheaven).
