Singer/songwriter Luis Figueroa has made his debut in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart with his latest single “Hasta El Sol de Hoy” via Sony Music Latin/Magnus Music. The track was the highest debut of the week.
“Hasta El Sol de Hoy,” which comes in two versions, acoustic and salsa, also landed a spot on the Top 20 of Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart, enamoring the listeners with a softer, romantic salsa that makes you want to dance produced by Jay Lugo.
Both versions will be included in Figueroa’s upcoming debut album Canciones Del Alma, reinventing many of his favorite songs with cozy acoustic-framed arrangements that highlight his voice. “Hasta El Sol de Hoy” in particular, happens to be one of Figueroa’s favorites since the original song (1993) was sung by his uncle Anthony Colón as part of the group Edgar Joel y Su Orquesta.
The salsa version of the song was also selected to be included in an online digital campaign for the 2021 Lexus IS 350 sports vehicle. This campaign will run across the US targeting the Hispanic market and features Figueroa wrapping up a long day in the recording studio and driving around Miami escaping to do things he loves like playing basketball while disconnecting from his day. As he drives, his song is playing while he enjoys the fruits of his hard work.
Figueroa was recently nominated for Best Pop Artist at the 2021 Edition of the Heat Latin Music Awards. The awards will take place in June in the Dominican Republic.
