- Commemorating the 35th anniversary of Super Mario, Hasbro created a new celebration edition of its classic Monopoly and Jenga games to honor Super Mario's history.
Hasbro is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its beloved plumber with the release of the new Super Mario Monopoly Celebration Edition and Jenga Super Mario games.
The Mario-themed Monopoly board game draws in the iconic Super Mario artwork, characters, themes and locations from the video game’s 35-year history. From Toad houses and Princess Peach castles replacing the classic gameboard’s houses and hotels, the game also features a Question Block with nostalgic gaming sound effects, such as Bowser’s laugh, the Power-Up sound and more.
The original World 1-1, Yoshi’s Island, Delfino Plaza, New Donk City, and Bowser’s Kingdom are some of the locations where players can land on. The six player icons include a Mushroom, Super Star, Yoshi’s Egg, Fire Flower, Super Leaf, and Koopa Shell.
The Monopoly Super Mario Celebration Edition gameboard can be purchased now on Amazon.
The Jenga Super Mario edition adds a Nintendo twist to the classic tower-building game, where players can play as the iconic game characters and collect coins as you climb a tower to defeat Bowser.
The special edition comes with a spinner, which determines your next move, whether it is climbing up the layers of the tower, how many blocks to remove and stack on the tower, how many coins to collect or whether the game will reverse its direction while not trying to crash down the tower.
The Jenga Super Mario tower-building game is set to release on August 1.
Lego has also released a Lego set replica of the NES console and a Super Mario “Adventures with Mario Starter Course” Lego set in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario coming soon on August 1. Pre-order on the Lego site.
