- Lana Del Rey will release her poetry book Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass' in September.
Lana Del Rey has announced the release date for her debut poetry book and accompanying audiobook Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass.
The 112-page poetry book will release on September 29 and already has a listing on Amazon. The audiobook will release on July 28 with CD and vinyl editions of the spoken-word album releasing on October 2.
The poetry book features over 30 original poems in typewritten manuscript pages with some of the singer’s original photography. The audiobook will have backing music by Jack Antonoff with Del Rey reading the pieces.
“Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass is the title poem of the book and the first poem I wrote of many. Some of which came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem. They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I’m proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic,” said the listing.
Del Rey revealed the cover on social media and also shared about the Navajo Water Project where some of the proceeds will go. She said their goal is to raise $1 million and will travel to New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona to make sure its getting done.
