- 'La Reina del Sur' will be returning for a third installment.
Telemundo‘s La Reina del Sur will return for a third season with Kate del Castillo (Bad Boys for Life, The 33, Ingobernable, Weeds, All About Nina) reprising her role as Teresa Mendoza.
The news was revealed during NBCUniversal Upfront which highlighted the network’s hit shows.

We’re excited to invite our viewers to join the next chapter in Teresa Mendoza’s life journey and the powerful story brought to life by the talented Kate del Castillo.”

Isabella Sierra (La Reina del Sur 2, 100 Días para Enamorarnos,) Humberto Zurita (La Querida del Centauro, La Reina del Sur, Bajo la Metralla, Luna De Sangre,) Kika Edgar (La Reina del Sur 2, Amor Real, Mujeres Asesinas,) Lincoln Palomeque (La Reina del Sur, Señora Acero, Santa Diabla,) Emmanuel Orenday (La Reina del Sur, Operación Pacífico, Señora Acero,) and Dmitry Anisimov (La Reina del Sur,) will also be reprising their roles in the upcoming season.
The second installment ended as the #1 program in its timeslot, regardless of language. It also broke all records in digital viewing on the Telemundo App, dominated the social landscape as the #1 most social Hispanic primetime entertainment series, was the #1 most engaging drama series on Facebook regardless of language, and ranked as the top-performing Hispanic series on VOD.
Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Global Studios, will serve as Showrunner and Executive Producer of this new season. La Reina del Sur Season 3 is a co-production between Telemundo Global Studios and Netflix. Telemundo has the exclusive rights in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and Netflix has the exclusive rights for the rest of the world on OTT.
