- Amazon is developing Jessica Henwick and Kai Yu Wu's comedy series ‘Nancy Wu Done It.’
Amazon will be developing a new comedy series Nancy Wu Done It from writers and executive producers Kai Yu Wu (co-executive producer of Amazon’s Paper Girls and Carnival Row) and Jessica Henwick (Underwater).
The story follows a frustrated Asian American female YA author who suddenly finds herself transported into one of her own books. As a result, she must work with the titular character she created — who she now hates — to solve an unfinished mystery.
The series comes from Amazon Studios in association with Vertigo Entertainment. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon will serve as executive producers for Vertigo.
The project is helmed by a team of Asian women and women of color. Wu, Yoon, and Henwick are Asian. Yoon will produce while Wu and Henwick wrote the series who will have an Asian lead.
Wu previously co-executive producer Paper Girls and Carnvial Row for Amazon. She also created and was the head writer of The Ghost Bride, an International Original series at Netflix.
Henwick is known for playing Colleen Wing in Iron Fist and Nymeria Sand of the Sand Snakes in Game Of Thrones. She recently appeared in Underwater alongside Kristen Stewart and Vincent Cassell. Henwick will next appear in Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks which also stars Rashida Jones and Bill Murray, Monster Problems opposite Dylan O’Brien, and in Matrix 4.
Wu is managed by Underground and Greg Gellman is her lawyer. Henwick is repped by CAA, Curtis Brown Group and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.
