- Balvin celebrates the collaboration with McDonald's as representation for his people, particularly during Hispanic Heritage Month.
After the success of the Travis Scott menu collaboration with McDonald’s, the famed fast-food chain will now feature one more signature order by the award-winning Reggaeton global ambassador J Balvin.
“From topping charts around the world to landing countless award nominations, J Balvin is a trailblazing international icon,” said McDonald’s U.S. Chief Marketing Officer, Morgan Flatley. “He’s always been a regular at McDonald’s restaurants during his concert tours, and now we’re excited to bring his go-to order to our menus across the U.S.”
Balvin shared the news to his millions of fans via Twitter and Instagram on Monday.
“As a longtime McDonald’s fan, I am excited to join the short list of global icons who have had a meal named in their honor,” says J Balvin. “I am looking forward to sharing my signature order with my fans, along with more surprises that are to come with this partnership. ¡Lego!”
The Colombian reggaeton superstar is well known for his partnerships, and is most recently linked to the likes of Takashi Murakami and Jordan Brand. This collaboration associates the thirty-five-year-old with the biggest partnership yet, and becomes the second celebrity since 1992 to be featured on the McDonald’s menu.
Balvin set his personal spin to the high-profile meal, which includes a pickle-free Big Mac sandwich, medium french fries with ketchup, and an Oreo McFlurry as dessert.
“When McDonald’s called me up to ask about this collaboration, I immediately said yes. It was a huge part of my childhood and my day-to-day. McDonald’s is just part of the culture, you know?” Balvin told Hypebeast. “I grew up with it and I’m proud to be the first Latino to have [an exclusive menu]. It’s really cool to represent a lot of ‘firsts’ for my people, like my Jordan collab, the Super Bowl show. I mean, it’s even Hispanic Heritage Month so the timing is [right].”
The J Balvin Meal will be available from October 5 to November 1 at participating McDonald’s restaurants.
