Hong Kong Disneyland is temporarily closing for a third time this year due to rising cases of COVID-19. The park first closed in January with the first wave and reopened on June 18 but closed again a month later in July. It has remained opened since its second opening in September but will close again starting December.
Hong Kong Disneyland joins Disneyland Paris which announced its second closure and Disneyland in California which has been the only park to have remained closed since it first closed in March.
The Walt Disney Co. has shifted their approach to focus on streaming since the fate of theme parks remains at the hands of government authorities. Disney has been embroiled in a dispute with the state of California over its guidelines that have kept the theme park from reopening. The company has also announced more layoffs to come in the following months.
Walt Disney World in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland remain open as of now.
