John Krasinski’s web show, “Some Good News” had a mini “The Office” reunion with Steve Carell for its first episode. For his second episode, he brought out Lin-Manuel Miranda and there st of the original Broadway cast of “Hamilton.” Broadway theaters are currently closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The cast reunited to surprise a little girl named Aubrey who was supposed to go see the show when it got canceled. Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, who also made an appearance, gifted Aubrey a trip to New York to see the show once it is back on. However, Miranda knew he could top this during the call by having the rest of the cast join the Zoom call to sing the opening number of the show “Alexander Hamilton.”
Joined by Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Schuyler), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens and Philip Hamilton), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds) and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan and James Madison). The original ensemble members were also on the call singing along. It was a pleasant surprise for Aubrey and fans of the musical.
Robert De Niro also makes a brief appearance on the show to talk about the weather. Most importantly, Krasinski shares the good news sent to him by viewers to shed light on the positive.
