Honoring the best in K-pop music, the first-ever APAN Music Awards announced this year’s winners. Among the categories presented, the Korean Entertainment Management Association selected the 2020 top ten artists who led the most impactful pop songs in Korea this past year to represent the APAN Top 10.
GOT7, MONSTA X, Kang Daniel, The Boyz, Seventeen, IZ*ONE, Lim Young Woong, NCT 127, TWICE, and BTS were among the elite group chosen from a criterion considering album sales, music sales, popularity voting, and an impartial review by a respected committee.
Winners for fan-voted categories were also announced, which found NCT U win for Best Global Icon, and saw GOT7’s JB score the award for Best All-Rounder. Global superstars BLACKPINK won for Best Music Video, and Top 10 artist Kang Daniel also earned the award for Best Performance.
Son Sung Min, APAN Awards executive chairman previously shared that the newly established music awards were to honor “Korean stars standing at the center of Korean Wave culture.”
The ceremony was to be held originally on Saturday, November 28, however, due to stringent guidelines owed to COVID-19, the ceremony was postponed.
