Golden Globes Changes Eligibility Rules Due to Coronavirus Crisis

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has made new changes to the upcoming Golden Globes to reflect the COVID-19 pandemic and the closures of movie theaters.

The updated rule extends its previous revision stating that it will continue to allow films that launch in a television or streaming format to be eligible for nomination. The tweak allows the rule to be extended indefinitely until a date HFPA determines. Movie theaters continue to remain closed due to the global health crisis.

With big cities like New York and Los Angeles expected to be closed longer, there is no timeline to follow when theaters will be running normally.
