EXO‘s Kai has become the first Korean artist to release a capsule collection with Gucci. “KAI x Gucci” is part of the brand’s 100th-anniversary capsule collection. Kai has been active as Gucci’s Global ambassador prior to the capsule collection.
Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele shared that Kai’s “teddy bear” motif shown throughout the collection of ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, etc., were inspired by KAI’s favorite teddy bear.
Reminding people of their childhood, Kai showcases the pieces of the collection in his pictorial.
Kai said, “This is the first time that Gucci has released a Korean celebrity and collection,” regarding the “KAI x Gucci” capsule collection. I am happy and grateful to be able to present a collection named after it. It seems like a lot of luck came to me.”
As part of the “KAI x Gucci” collection, Gucci installed “Bear balloon” artwork in 5 places representing Korea, including Seoul Hanoktown, DDP, N Seoul Tower, BUSAN’s Ahopsan, and Gamcheon Culture Village. The project was unfolded with artist Im Ji Bin.
“KAI x Gucci” capsule collection will be released throughout Asia after pre-release in Korea through a special pop-up store Gucci Pin inspired by the pin-shaped icon on the interactive digital map.
