Diego Luna heads to Amazon Prime Video with seven-part Amazon Prime series Pan y Circo. The series is the first collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and La Corriente del Golfo, the production company by Luna and Gael García Bernal. The show will premiere three episodes on August 7 on Prime Video, with an episode releasing weekly after.

The series presents and innovating format and rarely seen: it takes back the ritual of food as a space for conversation y bringing different points of view together. The conversations moderated by actor and filmmaker Luna, reunite experts and different personalities to touch fundamental topics and of universal interest in contemporary societies, accompanied by the menus of well-known Mexican chefs.

Pan Y Circo was born by trying to combine two of the things I enjoy doing most: eating and listening,” Luna said, per The L.A. Times. The goal was to make a show about other people in every way – the other people who are guests on the show, other people who live realities different from mine, and other people who do not think like me. We listen to each other while sharing a meal, nothing more. The table, in my life, has turned out to be the ideal place to debate, to reflect and share my worries and aspirations with others.”

Each episode will talk about topics including racism, immigration, femicide, and a COVID-19 episode shot remotely. A group of actors, activists, and more come together to have honest, candid conversations over dinner. The episodes were shot across Mexico in different cities.
