Cory Asbury Lands Second No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay Chart with ‘The Father’s House’

  • Singer/songwriter Cory Asbury has landed his second No.1 on Billboard's Christian Airplay Chart with 'The Father's House.'

Grammy-nominated Bethel Music singer/songwriter Cory Asbury has landed his season No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart this week with “The Father’s House.” The song also continues to reign for the sixth consecutive week atop Billboard’s Christian AC Monitored chart, as well as four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian AC Indicator chart.

“The Father’s House” is produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, NEEDTOBREATHE) and written by Asbury Ethan Hulse (Jeremy Camp, Zach Williams) and Hillsong UNITED’s Ben Hastings. The song will be part of Asbury’s sophomore album that will release this summer.

“Wow—part of me had begun to believe I’d always be in the shadow of ‘Reckless Love,’ so to see ‘The Father’s House’ resonate so quickly and so deeply in listeners’ hearts is a massive blessing,” Asbury says. “I’m so thankful to my Bethel Music family and radio stations all across the country.”

“This song was actually born two-and-a-half, maybe three years, before it was fully written,” he adds. “I was in the middle of a tour and my soul was tired. I was just weary, feeling broken, weak and messed up—all the things we feel as humans—and I sat down at the piano. For me, music is therapy; it’s a time when I can pour out my heart before the Lord. All of a sudden, this phrase just came out: ‘You never wanted perfect, You just wanted my heart.’ It was like a lightbulb went off. I realized in that moment that it wasn’t about me having it all together, even in the midst of weakness and brokenness. It was about offering my heart in that space. I started weeping and saying that phrase over and over. It was therapy for my soul.”

Asbury is the worship pastor of Radiant Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and is a member of the Bethel Music collective. The singer/songwriter earned a Grammy nomination for “Reckless Love,” which also earned a Billboard Music Awards nominations for Top Christian Song, the album for Top Christian Album, and Asbury for Top Christian Artist in 2019. Asbury also earned three GMA Dove Awards and two K-LOVE Fan Awards. “Reckless Love” spent 18 weeks at No. 1 at Christian radio and amassed over 300 million streams.

He sings the song “Egypt” and the spontaneous “Breathe/Rest.” in Bethel Music’s latest album “Revival’s In The Air.”
