After heavy speculation, Coldplay has confirmed their new collaboration with BTS “My Universe” set to release on September 24 off of their forthcoming album Music Of The Spheres out October 15. Pre-save/pre-order the track here.
According to Warner Music, “My Universe” is sung in both English and Korean and was written and composed by Coldplay and BTS themselves and produced by Max Martin. BTS members RM, Suga, and J-Hope are credited as composers.
Along with the digital single, a CD single will also be able which includes a reproduction of handwritten lyrics by Coldplay and BTS and is printed on a sustainably sourced board. For any item purchased in Coldplay’s store, the band will plant and sustain one tree with their partners One Tree Planted.
The collaboration comes as a full-circle moment for the septet. The members have often expressed their admiration for the band and their desire to collaborate. The group also performed a cover of Coldplay’s song “Fix You” during their debut on MTV’s Unplugged. Recently, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin interviewed the group to chat about music and their “Permission to Dance” challenge.
“My Universe” is the second single from the band and follows “Higher Power” leading up to their ninth album Music Of The Spheres.
