Written by Rivera with Pablo Preciado (Matisse), this song follows on the heels of Rivera’s successful album Leyendas, his tribute to the great interpreters of Spanish-language music which led Mexico’s sales charts for 12 consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, with this song, the trio Reik returns to its ballad roots after great success with urban-music crossovers, reaffirming that its romantic side remains stronger than ever.
The music video of “Cuántas Veces” was filmed at Mexico City’s Parque Bicentenario by the Venezuelan director Nuno Gomes (Camila, Ozuna, Reik). It portrays the artists along with the story of two living sculptures that seek to cast off everything in order to return to the fundamentals of love.
Recently, Rivera returned to Mexico after a successful tour of Spain where he performed 12 concerts. Rivera and Reik will give the television premiere of this track at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards on September 23.
On Friday, September 24, Rivera will premiere his Crónicas de una Guerra special on Disney+. This longform video is divided into four parts and takes us behind the scenes of his unforgettable concert at Buenos Aires’ Hipódromo Palermo; his winning over of the demanding audience at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile; his innovative concert in-the-round at the Arena Monterrey in northern Mexico; and his sudden change of plans when the pandemic struck. But his battle was not lost, only paused. He recently announced that his concert at the Arena Ciudad de México has been rescheduled for December 3, in a performance to be dubbed “La Última Guerra.”
