- Bonnaroo 2020 has officially been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another music festivals falls victim to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bonnaroo has officially canceled its festival for this year and will return on June 17-20, 2021.
Festival organizers first thought postponing the event from its usual July time slot to September but as cases continue to rise, it seemed unlikely to continue.
“Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will not take place this September 24-27, 2020 as originally rescheduled. Our annual time together on the Farm is nothing short of magical, but out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroovians, artists, staff, partners and our community, this is a necessary reality. More information on lineup, camping and accommodations will be available at a later date,” said a statement from the festival.
But the festival plans to go on virtually. The virtual gathering will take place on the planned weekend of September 24-27, 2020 including “a very special virtual Bonnaroo weekend including some of our favorite moments from past and present, along with some special surprises.”
Festival ticket holders will be able to get a refund or roll this year’s ticket to next year’s festival.
Coachella and Stagecoach also had planned to postpone their festivals for later in the year but ultimately got canceled.
