French electronic pop band BLOW have dropped their new single “One Life,” from their forthcoming second album, Shake The Disease, due for release in late 2021. “One Life” is available here.
Written by BLOW – Quentin Guglielmi (vocals), Thomas Clairice (bass, formerly also a touring member of Her), and Jean-Etienne Maillard (guitar) – during last year’s global lockdown, the hip hop-adjacent warmth of ‘One Life’ is offset by bruised lyrics that bear the challenges of staring down your 30s in an increasingly unsettled and unsettling world. Tapping into the rub between who we want to be as people and who we actually are day-to-day, BLOW’s songwriting holds a mirror up to a generation increasingly forced to question everything.
About the track, they say, “We are a shredded humanity, laughing about the sky and the trees. Withstanding time with darkness in our mind. Time goes by but madness persists. Only the abyss remains green. Even the wise are absurd.”
