BLACKPINK Releases New Original Series for YouTube’s New Weekly Music Show

  • Blackpink’s new show on YouTube will debut on October 1, ahead of their first full-length album release titled ‘The Album’.

BLACKPINK to kick off YouTube‘s new weekly music series with the debut of their original show Released.

The platform will debut sixteen 15-minute episodes featuring top music artists every week, hosted by DJ Little Bacon Bear. The outlet gives fans exclusive artist access, latest music news, and the chance to watch the artist’s world premiere music video first.

“We are honored and happy to be the first on YouTube’s new original content ‘Released.’ We hope that it will be a great opportunity to celebrate our first full album ‘The Album’ with many global music fans,” Blackpink said in a statement.

The K-pop superstars have been shattering records and releasing chart-toppers since their comeback with their single “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream” featuring Selena Gomez. YG Entertainment recently confirmed that Blackpink’s official YouTube channel exceeds over 48.8 million subs, becoming the second most subscribed music artist on the video-sharing platform.

“We feel lucky to kick off this series with Blackpink, arguably the biggest artist in the world,” Lyor Cohen, YouTube’s global head of music added.

Released is produced by Den of Thieves and forms part of the YouTube Originals music-oriented slate. G&S CEO Van Toffler, former head of MTV and president of Viacom Media Networks Music & Logo Group, will executive produce the series with Barry Barclay and Matt Elias for Gunpowder & Sky.

“Van Toffler is the visionary behind some of music’s most memorable moments and the perfect partner to bring this project to life,” said Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content said in a statement.

Released will premiere on BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The group will debut their show ahead of the release of their first full-length album The Album on October 2, 2020.
