Benedict Cumberbatch Joins the Cast of the Upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ Installment

Benedict Cumberbatch is joining the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man installment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Spider-Man film will star Tom Holland following the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Doctor Strange could potentially play Peter Parker’s mentor, a place left empty after the fate of Tony Stark/Iron Man.

While Marvel and Sony have made no comment, casting rumors have been swirling after it was reported that Jamie Foxx was reprising his role as Electro who he played in Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014.

Cumberbatch will begin shooting Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness soon which will explore alternate realities and some speculate therein lies the cross-section.

Spider-Man 3 (Working title) is set to begin shooting in Atlanta later this month while Multiverse of Madness is also due to begin shooting this month in London which makes it unclear when and where Cumberbatch will shoot his scenes.
