Bad Bunny Wins Big at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards

The 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards honored the best in Latin music for the past year at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, FL. Bad Bunny was the big winner taking home 10 of the 22 awards for which he was a finalist, including Artist of the Year, and Hot Latin Song of the Year for “Dákiti” and Album of the Year for YHLQMDLG.

The award show also honored Mexico’s Paquita la del Barrio, who was awarded the Billboard Lifetime Achievement award, renowned band Maná, who was recognized with the new Billboard Icon award, and global star Daddy Yankee, who was bestowed with the Billboard Hall of Fame award.

The Black Eyed Peas, invigorated by Latin rhythms, won Latin Pop Song of the Year for their song “Mamacita” and Sales Song of the Year for “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)” as well as Crossover Artist of the Year. Jhay Cortez garnered his three awards with Bad Bunny for “Dákiti,” receiving Hot Latin Song of the Year, Hot Latin Song Vocal Event, and Streaming Song of the Year.

Karol G took home two awards in the categories of Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female. Other artists who were also honored with two awards each include Maluma and The Weeknd who won in the categories of Latin Airplay Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year with the song “Hawaii”; Maná, who were honored for Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and the Billboard Icon award; while Prince Royce was recognized for Tropical Song of the Year with “Carita Inocente” and Tropical Album of the Year for Alter Ego.

In the Regional Mexican genre, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga was honored with two awards in the categories of Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Artist, Duo or Group, while Eslabón Armado won in Top Latin Album Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Tu Veneno Mortal.
