There is no denying aespa’s global super rookie dominion. The girl group has been selected by the French luxury house Givenchy to be their 2021 brand ambassador. With the selection, aespa becomes the first K-pop artist to serve as the face of the brand.
“When I first saw aespa, I was overwhelmed by the energy each member had,” Givenchy creative director Matthew M. Williams said. “As a group, I felt that the firm personality and style of each member of KARINA, GISELLE, WINTER, and NINGNING naturally connected with Givenchy’s sensitivity. aespa’s fashion represents their own color.”
aespa added, “We are delighted to be with Matthew, the new creative director at Givenchy. As we join the new Givenchy chapter, we will try to show a variety of appearances and activities.”
Last November, aespa made their breakout debut with the chart-topping single “Black Mamba,” which was met with record-setting milestones for any debut in K-pop history. Most recently, TIME named SM Entertainment’s new girl group as 2021’s “Rookie K-POP Group to Watch.” The four members followed up their debut single with a reimagined version of Yoo Young Jin’s 2000 hit song “Forever.”
