'A Quiet Place 2, 'Top Gun: Maverick' Pushed Back to 2021

A Quiet Place Part 2 and Top Gun: Maverick are the latest movies to get their releases pushed back.

Paramount has announced that A Quiet Place Part 2 starring Emily Blunt will now release on April 23, 2021, a year later from its original release date. Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick will now release on July 2, 2021

“We truly believe that there is no movie-viewing experience like the one enjoyed in theatres,” said Paramount’s president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson, and president of international theatrical distribution Mark Viane. “We are committed to the theatrical experience and our exhibition partners, and want to stress that we are confident that, when the time comes, audiences everywhere will once again enjoy the singular joy of seeing Paramount films on the big screen.”

Paramount also announced that the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel will set to open on April 8, 2022.

A Quiet Place Part 2, which was set to release in March, was one of the first movies to get postponed as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The date was pushed back to later in 2020 but with cases rising, the best movie was to push back to 2021.

The news comes as Disney decided to pull Mulan from its schedule, which also had a March release date originally. While 2021 being the safest date for premiere, movie theaters will be the ones struggling with studios’ decisions.
